Detectives arrest fifth teen following murder of Tashaûn Aird, 15, in Hackney

Detectives investigating the murder of 15-year-old Tashaûn Aird in Hackney have arrested a fifth teenager. A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with Tashaûn’s murder on Wednesday, 3 July, and taken into custody at a south London police station for questioning. He has since been released under investigation. Enquires continue. Previously four teenagers have been charged with his murder. A 15-year-old boy charged with murder, s18 grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday, 17 June. A trial date has been set for Monday, 28 October at the same court. Previously, three other teenagers were charged with Tashaûn’s murder. An 18-year-old; a 16-year-old boy; and a 15-year-old boy. They are due to appear for a pretrial plea and directions hearing at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 25 July.
