A cyclist has been found guilty of murder after a jury rejected his claims of self-defence in a road rage incident.

Ahmed Gonladieu, 25, was convicted for the murder of Alexandros Josephs, 29, following an altercation that began when Josephs accidentally knocked over Gonladieu’s bike and dragged it along the road. The incident escalated when Gonladieu approached Joseph’s car, and Joseph opened his car window.

During the confrontation, Gonladieu stabbed Joseph, resulting in his death. Gonladieu also claimed that Josephs had a gun on him and argued that he acted in self-defence. However, the jury found no merit in his claims and convicted him of murder and possession of a bladed weapon.

Gonladieu will be sentenced on July 23.
