Little Treasures Nursery, located on Blue House Lane, however, notified parents and carers via Facebook that they were implementing a lockdown due to the incident on Thursday. The nursery urged everyone to stay safe.

Northumbria Police confirmed their awareness of the reports but clarified that there is no ongoing incident. A spokesperson stated that the posts originated from the previous evening and emphasised that there is no immediate threat.
