Christina Hendricks And Paddy Considine To Star In “small Town, Big Story” Sky Original Series

Small towns have their secrets, but not all of them know how to keep them. This is the premise of the upcoming Sky Original series, “Small Town, Big Story,” which promises a blend of warmth, humor, and drama.

The series stars Christina Hendricks, known for her roles in “Good Girls” and “Mad Men,” and Paddy Considine from “House of the Dragon.” It’s created and directed by Chris O’Dowd, the talent behind “Moone Boy.” The project is produced by Playground and FilmNation Entertainment and has begun filming on location in Ireland. “Small Town, Big Story” is expected to premiere on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK and Ireland in 2024.

The six-part series is set in the fictional town of Drumbán, situated on the border of Ireland and another world. It portrays a rural village inhabited by a quirky bunch of residents who have been guarding a hidden secret since the eve of the Millennium. The arrival of a Hollywood production in town triggers a series of events that expose the well-kept secret to the world.

Christina Hendricks takes on the role of Wendy Patterson, a local girl who made it big as a hot-shot television producer in LA. She returns to her hometown with a Hollywood production crew in tow. Paddy Considine stars as Seamus Proctor, Drumbán’s local doctor and a respected figure in the community. Eileen Walsh, known for her role in “Catastrophe,” portrays Catherine Proctor, Seamus’ wife and the local schoolteacher. Leia Murphy and David Rawle play siblings Joanne and Sonny Proctor. Patrick Martins, Evanne Kilgallon, Andrew Bennett, Ruth McCabe, and David Wilmot round out the ensemble cast, with further casting announcements expected.

“Small Town, Big Story” was commissioned by Sky Studios for Sky. The series is a collaboration between Playground and FilmNation Entertainment, in association with Sky Studios. Executive producers include Colin Callender and Scott Huff for Playground, Stefanie Berk and Milan Popelka for FilmNation Entertainment, and Alex Moody for Sky Studios. Christina Hendricks and Chris O’Dowd also serve as executive producers, with Liz Gill as the series producer. The series will feature directors such as Chris O’Dowd, Catherine Morshead, Mike Ahern, and Enda Loughman. NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle international sales of the series on behalf of Sky Studios.
