A number of homes have been left without gas this afternoon following a dramatic road traffic collision on Bullockstone Road near the entrance to Herne Bay Crematorium.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after a car reportedly overturned and collided with a roadside gas cabinet, resulting in a significant gas leak. The incident occurred just after 4pm.

Two fire engines from Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene alongside officers from Kent Police, engineers from SGN (Southern Gas Networks), and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), including members of the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).

A spokesperson from Kent Fire and Rescue said:

“Crews responded swiftly to reports of a gas leak caused by a collision involving an overturned vehicle. Firefighters worked closely with SGN engineers to secure the scene and limit the spread of the leak.”
