Police Constable Ravi Canhye, 46, is charged with eight sexual offences,
including two counts of rape, committed against two women while he was off
duty last year.
Canhye was suspended immediately after the allegations were made and has
remained suspended throughout the investigation.
The investigation was referred to the Independent Office for Police
Conduct, which determined that Dorset Police should conduct a local
investigation.
Ravi Canhye was charged on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, and is scheduled to
appear in Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 3, 2023.
“We understand that charges of this nature will quite rightly cause concern
within our communities,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
However, due to ongoing legal proceedings, we are unable to comment further
on this matter at this time.
“If anyone has any specific concerns about this case or any sexual offence
crimes, please contact Dorset Police, where information can be reported and
handled in strict confidence.”
