Bones, potentially human, have been discovered on the riverbank at Foots Cray Meadows in Sidcup.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were alerted to the scene at 2:14pm yesterday (Monday) by a member of the public who reported finding bones along the riverbank area.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 2:14pm on Monday, July 29 to Foots Cray Meadows, Sidcup after a member of the public reported finding bones in a riverbank area.
“The bones have been sent for specialist examination to determine whether they are human and, if so, how old they are.
Foots Cray Meadows, a popular spot for local residents and visitors, is now the focus of a forensic investigation. Police have cordoned off the area as they continue to search for additional evidence and gather more information.
Residents and visitors are advised to avoid the area while the investigation is underway.
