Croydon Road near Beckenham Beacon has been completely closed in both directions this evening after a serious crash involving a speeding vehicle. The incident happened just before 10pm on Wednesday 7th May 2025

Witnesses reported that a car flipped over during the incident, leaving the wreckage blocking the road. Shockingly, the driver is believed to have fled the scene on foot before emergency services arrived.

Police are actively searching for the individual, and a large cordon has been put in place. Buses and all traffic are currently being diverted, causing major disruption in the area.

Local residents on social media described the dramatic scenes, with one witness saying:

“Speeding car has flipped over and the driver seemed to have run off as the police were looking for them.

There are no immediate reports of injuries to other road users.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while the investigation and recovery work continue.
