Rail workers from ASLEF, the drivers’ union, have called for a ban on non-contractual overtime at 16 train companies across the UK, including Thameslink. The strike action will last from Monday, July 3 to Saturday, July 8.

Thameslink has announced that it will be operating an amended timetable during the strike days, with fewer services running each hour. As a result, trains are expected to be busier than usual, particularly during peak hours, and passengers may experience longer queues.

Passengers planning to attend the Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park on Saturday are advised that trains will be “extremely busy,” and queues are expected. Thameslink advises passengers to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time.

Chris Fowler, Network Operations Director at Govia Thameslink Railway, apologized for the disruption and advised passengers to check for updates and plan ahead before setting out for the station.
