Arrests made after man robbed of phone and watch in Gillingham

Two people have been arrested by Kent Police officers after a man reported being robbed in Gillingham. The victim, in his 30s, was walking along Canterbury Street at around 2am on Sunday 12 May 2019 when he told police he was approached by men who tried to take his mobile phone. The phone was knocked to the floor and as the victim tried to pick it up he reported being assaulted. It happened at the junction with Green Street where his watch was also taken. Officers in the area quickly located two men, aged 18 and 20, who matched the description of the suspects and they were arrested on suspicion of robbery. The victim’s phone and watch were recovered by police. Both men from Gillingham remain in police custody whilst enquiries continue.
