Arrest Made Following Dangerous Driving Incident in Edenbridge

An 18-year-old man from Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, has been arrested following a dangerous driving incident in Edenbridge, Kent. The suspect, who only holds a provisional driving license, was apprehended after a police pursuit on Thursday, 27 March 2025.

Incident Details

Kent Police were called shortly after 7:40 am to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Station Approach, near Edenbridge train station. The vehicle was suspected to be involved in a fuel theft incident.

Officers quickly located the vehicle travelling on Stangrove Road. When signalled to stop, the driver failed to comply, prompting a police pursuit through the area.

The chase concluded when the vehicle came to a halt in Smiths Lane, Crockham Hill.

Weapons Seized

Following the arrest, officers conducted a search and discovered a knuckle duster inside the vehicle, which was subsequently seized.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

The 18-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft, and possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police Statement

A spokesperson from Kent Police said:

“Officers responded swiftly to reports of a suspicious vehicle linked to a potential fuel theft. The suspect was pursued and detained after failing to stop for police. A knuckle duster was recovered during a search of the vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing, and the individual has been released on bail.”

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the Station Approach or Stangrove Road areas around the time of the incident to come forward.
