Appeal launched after fatal collision in Richmond

Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Richmond upon Thames. Police were called at 00:27hrs on Saturday, 11 November to Hampton Court Road, near the Esso patrol garage, following reports of a vehicle in a collision with a pedestrian. Officers attended with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service (LAS). A 60-year-old male was discovered suffering from serious injuries. Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits. At this early stage officers are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened. A 36-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving and possession of class B drugs. He did not sustain any injuries; he was taken to a south-west London police station, where he remains. Officers believe that there may have been a female occupant travelling in the vehicle who fled the scene; enquiries are ongoing to trace her.
