A man is in custody following excellent work by the Roads Policing Unit and Police Dog Conan

At around 10.30pm yesterday (09/04), a pursuit was authorised on the M4 eastbound near junction 16 following intelligence on a vehicle and concerns over the manner of driving.

The vehicle failed to stop for officers and was pursued to junction 12 for Theale near Reading, where he was halted through a tactical stop.

The man then made off on foot but was successfully detained by PD Conan.

The suspect, aged in his 30s and from Swansea, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He then failed a drug wipe and was further arrested for driving under the influence of cocaine.

He remains in custody for questioning.
