Police Appeal After Woman and Teen Seriously Assaulted in Newhaven Car Park Robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery and serious assault in a Newhaven car park left two people injured. The police appeal after woman and teen were seriously assaulted has been met with widespread community concern. At around 4.40pm on Sunday, 31 August, a 24-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were walking through the Dacre Road car park when they were approached by a blue Renault Clio.

Three suspects – two women and a man – exited the vehicle and attacked the victims. The boy’s mobile phone and cash belonging to the woman were stolen before the suspects fled the scene in the car. Victims Treated by Paramedics

Paramedics attended and treated both victims following the attack. Their injuries have not been described as life-threatening.

Arrests Made

A 24-year-old woman from Peacehaven and a 28-year-old woman from Portslade were later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and robbery. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries. In light of the police appeal after a woman and teen were severely assaulted, investigations continue. Police Statement

Detective Inspector Barry Chandler said:

“This was a nasty attack, which we believe was targeted. We’re carrying out a number of enquiries and encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant information, such as CCTV or mobile footage, to report it to us.”
