Detectives have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a common assault involving a baby at Guy’s Hospital SE1. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, 21 March, and thankfully, the baby was not physically harmed during the incident.
Detective Inspector Fiona Fraser, leading the investigation, stated, “Our enquiries have led us to believe that this man may be able to assist the investigation, and we are releasing the image as we have not been able to identify him so far.”
The authorities are treating the case as a common assault and have been providing support to the family of the baby since the report was made on Wednesday, 22 March, just one day after the incident occurred.
According to DI Fraser, the mother of the baby recounted the incident, stating that a man approached her while she was waiting for a lift in the central London hospital. The man allegedly touched the baby without consent, prompting the mother to ask him to stop. Fortunately, he complied and left the building. The incident deeply concerned the mother, and authorities are now working diligently to establish all the facts surrounding the encounter.
DI Fraser emphasised that no further incidents of a similar nature have been reported, and the investigation team is urging the man in the released image to come forward and speak with them. Additionally, anyone else who may possess relevant information is encouraged to come forward and assist the authorities in their efforts.
