Residents left homeless after blaze rips through Basement in Gillingham

Fire crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called just after 5pm on Friday to a fire in the cellar of a building on the High Street, Brompton, Gillingham. Four fire appliances were sent to tackle the blaze. Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using main jets. Residents of two of the flats have been assisted by the Kent Fire and Rescue Service Rapid Response Team and British Red Cross as they will not be able to stay in the property today due to the damage caused.
