Police urge festive revellers to stay safe and think of others

Celebrate responsibly and safely during the festive season is one of the messages being issued by Kent Police and partner agencies in Ramsgate in the run-up to Christmas. Throughout December, a late-night hub on Ramsgate seafront set up by officers from the Thanet Community Safety Unit will be available to provide help and information on having a safe and trouble-free Christmas. Representatives from Global Generation and Street Pastors will also be on hand to speak to and people are encouraged to visit the bus to find out more on issues ranging from loneliness and housing, to responsible drinking and tips on keeping your phone and bag safe during a night out. High visibility patrols have been increased in key points around the town throughout the month too. PC Justin Carter of Thanet Community Safety Unit said: ‘While it is the season to be merry, we are asking Christmas revellers to make sure their night out is enjoyable and trouble-free, for them and for others. ‘Alcohol-related crime and disorder is not welcome in any community so we want people to consider their actions and remember the impact it could have on residents. Know your limits. ‘Our hub, together with partner agencies are there to ensure Ramsgate remains safe this season.’ The hub was launched on Friday 7 December, and it will be on-hand to help every Friday and Saturday night before Christmas.
