Man arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspected terror charges released on bail

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. On Wednesday, 22 May, a 29-year-old man was stopped by police officers under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 at Heathrow Airport from an inbound flight from Germany. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of membership of a proscribed organisation, contrary to section 11 TACT 2000. He was detained under PACE and taken to a south London police station and later released on police bail to a date in mid-June pending further enquiries. As part of the investigation, officers also carried out a search at an address in north-west London.
