Hudhayfah Bernard, of Marston Close, appeared at Warwick Crown Court in relation to an incident in Leamington last year.

On 22 June 2019, officers arrested Bernard after witnessing a suspected drugs deal in Trinity Street.

When the 30-year-old’s Ford Fiesta car was searched, he was found to be in possession of a significant quantity of drugs – later identified as crack cocaine and heroin – while a quantity of cash was also seized.

A mobile phone taken from Bernard was also found to have been used for drug dealing with messages between him and a number of individuals over the previous two months.

Following further investigative work, Bernard was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment.

Speaking about the outcome, Detective Sergeant Sarah Wolsey said: “As a result of the quick response and good detective work, Bernard is off the streets and behind bars.

“The misery drugs can cause is well known not just to those who take them but to those in the local community as well.

“We will proactively target people we believe to be involved in drugs and use the powers we have to make sure their activity is disrupted.

“I hope Bernard’s sentence acts as a deterrent to others and goes some way to reassuring the public we will thoroughly investigate all drugs activity so we can bring offenders to justice and protect our communities from harm.”
