Shoreham’s volunteer lifeboat crews were in action on Wednesday night, saving a man in distress in the waters of Worthing. The inshore lifeboat launched, followed closely by the all-weather lifeboat, Shoreham and Littlehampton coastguard teams, and Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter, responding to reports of a man struggling in the water.
Arriving at the scene, the all-weather lifeboat’s searchlight located the casualty approximately 300 meters south of Splash Point. The inshore lifeboat swiftly reached the position, successfully rescuing the man and transferring him to the awaiting paramedics and police on the shoreline.
Shoreham lifeboat deputy coxswain Adam Cairns credited the positive outcome to outstanding teamwork among all involved. To report someone in distress in the water, remember to dial 999 and ask for the coastguard, as immediate action can make a life-saving difference.
