Fans of the unpredictable and dynamic entrepreneur and TV personality, Charlotte Crosby, are in for a treat as her hit show ‘Charlotte in Sunderland’ is set to return for a second series on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer later this year.

Produced by Chatterbox Media, the upcoming series, titled ‘Charlotte in Sunderland series two’ will pick up a few months after the conclusion of the first season. In the previous series, viewers witnessed Charlotte facing life-changing moments, including the revelation of her pregnancy with her first child, her partner Jake’s decision to move to the North East, her mother’s cancer diagnosis, and the passing of her beloved nana Jean.

As the new series begins, Charlotte’s daughter Alba will be seven months old, and Charlotte herself has big plans for the rest of 2023.

Charlotte Crosby expressed her excitement about the upcoming season, mentioning the emotional rollercoaster of the previous year and the support shown by the BBC and Chatterbox Media during both the happiest and saddest moments of her life. She called the series a tribute to her late grandmother, Nana Jean, and promised that the new season would bring viewers up to date with her, Jake, Alba, and the rest of her family, guaranteeing laughs and a few surprises.

Nasfim Haque, Head of Content for BBC Three, praised the return of Charlotte Crosby, offering viewers another access-all-areas pass to her entertaining world. Haque also highlighted the positive impact of the show on local North East production talent development, calling it a “winning combo.”

Nav Raman, Executive Producer for Chatterbox Media, shared his excitement about bringing back Charlotte’s hit series. He mentioned that the new season would follow Charlotte through the next chapter of her hectic life, balancing relationships, work, romance, and motherhood.

The first series of ‘Charlotte in Sunderland’ performed well, averaging 300,000 viewers (28-day / 4Screen) with 40% of the audience falling between ages 16-34. The show also saw strong overall viewership on iPlayer (62%) and proved particularly popular among viewers in the North of England. Additionally, it generated significant engagement on social media, with 448k interactions and a combined total of 36 million impressions.

Viewers can catch up on the first series of ‘Charlotte in Sunderland’ on BBC iPlayer before the much-anticipated second series airs this autumn.
